Oral Surgery

A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth in the mouth.  Extractions are performed for several reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth strucure to render the tooth non-restorable.  Additional reasons for a tooth extraction include:

  • 3rd molars (wisdom teeth)
  • Fractured tooth
  • Severe Gum Disease
  • Preparation for Orthodontic Treatment (Braces)
  • Extra teeth blocking other teeth from coming in
  • Cosmetic; teeth of poor appearance unsuitable for restoration
  • Teeth which cannot be restored endodontically
